Trainer Vincent Edwards passed away earlier today, January 2, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on May 22, 1934, he leaves behind his beloved wife of many years, Monica.
Edwards dedicated his life to the sport, serving not only as a talented trainer but also as a steadfast advocate for the welfare of his colleagues. He achieved his greatest successes in the 1980s, conditioning esteemed A Class runners such as Mr Nutcracker, Secret, and Dye Job—a legacy that carries on, with a road in the Caymanas Park complex named in honour of Dye Job.
Edwards up to the time of his passing served as president of the Jamaica Racehorse Trainers’ Association, tirelessly championing the development of trainers and representing their interests at the Jamaica Racing Commission. His commitment to the racing community was unwavering.
In addition to his career in horse racing, Edwards made his mark in politics, representing the Western St Mary constituency as a Member of Parliament for the People's National Party in the late 1970s.
His earlier years were also marked by his passion for music as the proprietor of the renowned King Edwards sound system, connecting with many through the power of music.
With heavy hearts, Quickgallopja.com and its YouTube Channel - The Quick Galloper, extend their deepest condolences to Monica, family members, colleagues, and friends.
