KINGSTON, Jamaica - The following is a release from the Jamaica Racing Commission.

APPEAL – RACING CONNECTIONS OF THE HORSE, MAHOGANY vs. THE DECISION OF THE HANDICAPPING COMMITTEE

On Friday, 14th October, 2022, the Jamaica Racing Commission heard an appeal submitted by Racehorse Owner, Henry Pratt against the decision of the Handicapping committee. This was in relation to the weight of 57 Kilograms which was allotted to the horse MAHOGANY for the projected GOLD CUP race scheduled to run on Saturday, 22nd October 2022.
After carefully reviewing all the evidence presented and submissions made by the Racing connections of the horse MAHOGANY as well as members of the Handicapping Committee, the Commission found some amount of merit in the points raised regarding the handicapping of the said race question. In light of this, the Commission has ruled that The Handicapping Committee should conduct a review of the weights allotted and submit their results to the Commission within 48 hours.

  1. I THINK ITS THE SHIVERS KICKING IN FOR THE CONNECTIONS,KNOWING THEY WILL ALOW A FEW LBS TO THE MIGHTY ATOMICA.MAGONY LOST BY A HEAD TO I'M FRED 1 LB MINUS OF THE 126 HE CARRIED IF HE GETS A BREAK FROM THE HANDICAPER.

  2. Well 57kg for Mahogany is expected but those with 44kg 46kg and less doesn't seems right in a race of this nature i believe it should be a wei9for age decision were the older horses carry the basic weight of 57kg meanwhile the 3yo colts carry 54kg an the 3yo fillys 52kg that's my review
