KINGSTON Jamaica – This quick race day recap starts with the news that the race track at Caymanas Park is slow, in fact, very slow. Therefore, be careful of making any conclusive assessment or judgment of times run today (March 13).

RACE ONE – A scraping the barrel event. The face that jockey Shane Ellis was on Scoobert for trainer Dennis Pryce is all.

RACE TWO – Trainer Ian Alexander saddled a rare winner with Princess Statistic. It should be noted that this was the third occasion Alexander was winning with this horse. Interestingly, both the winners of the first two races were drawn at post position number 10.

RACE THREE – Gorgeous Gift gained a long-awaited maiden victory after being disqualified earlier this year. Winning jockey Javaniel Patterson continued his good run. He now has 11 winners since the start of this season. Follow Javaniel! Second in this race was first timer Miss Francis. This chestnut filly led and was near the headlines throughout before the experienced Gorgeous Gift struck. In the stretch, Miss Francis (99-1) galloped resolutely thereby telling punters that she must be followed when next at the races.

RACE FOUR - K D Rocket continued the golden run of trainer Gary Subratie. Subratie has been enjoying a dream season and today earned his 15th winner with K D Rocket, who was again effective down the straight.

RACE FIVE – Probably the most to remember from this race was that it was co-champion jockey Dane Nelson who rode Sir Arjun Babu to victory.

RACE SIX – This race saw foreigner No Work Permit defeating the local horses, this after 19 starts. For the likes of My Time Now and SenCity, who both were winners early in their careers, it has been an uphill struggle to earn that elusive second victory. Of note is that while No Work Permit was the only foreigner who actually ran in this race, two others Iamacitizen and Super Paynter were declared late non-starters.

RACE SEVEN – The well-bred grey colt Daddy Jones (American Dance – Mete-Orite), a half-brother to the talented Mahogany took his time but finally shed the maiden tag going a mile. This win must have brought relief to the connections of Daddy Jones but it was not enough comfort that he will really get to his best in time to have a competitive say in the upcoming Classic races. Let’s wait and see as development in a three-year-old can be swift.

RACE EIGHT – The pluck and determination of Amy The Butcher came to the fore in this contest. Being the most raced among maiden rivals, Amy The Butcher took her earnings to over $800,000. Take note of the run by second place Khai Alexis. This was only Khai Alexis’s second outing and the improvement was seen.

RACE NINE – A scorching win by Action Ann that solidified her position as one of the leading candidates for at least the Classic races confined to fillies. Action Ann by Sensational Slam – Ladylike benefitted from the talent of six-time champion jockey Omar Walker in the saddle. This was her first run for the year and is a credit to her trainer Christopher Pearson. Punters need to watch very closely the progress of Secret Identity who lost by a neck in her second outing while Action Ann was racing for the fifth time. A word too about Sure Curlin who recently changed stables and who was running for the first time for new trainer Patrick Lynch. Sure Curlin was prominent throughout and was fighting to the end. Keep a watch on this one especially in non-winners of two.

RACE TEN – At the start of this season trainer Anthony Nunes publicly stated that Oneofakind had grown and matured well. Making his first run today in 2021, Oneofakind was impressive and now seems destined to race and win in the higher classes. A good ride by Anthony Thomas.
