KINGSTON, Jamaica – Patriarch once again announced that he probably the best sprinter around at this time after he defeated seven rivals in an Open Allowance event over 5½ furlongs.

With the rain tumbling down and the accompanying sloppy underfoot conditions, Patriarch, ridden by apprentice Oshane Nugent and trained by Fitzgerald Richards led from the start followed by Chace The Great (Dane Dawkins).

In the straight, Patriarch was challenged by Chace The Great and just as the latter was gaining the advantage something happened on the inside rails causing Dawkins to pull-up Chace The Great.

Patriarch at this time regained the lead and held firm to the wire despite a late surge from Father Patrick (Romario Spencer who finished second.

Third went to Prince Charles (Reyan Lewis).

In winning his second consecutive race, Patriarch provided apprentice Nugent with his second winner on the day.

The winning time was 1:05.4.
