KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was a patient Anthony Thomas who brought home the Kibbeisha Little trained Corazon Sin Miedo in the Caymanas Saturday fourth. This was the second win in succession for Corazon Sin Miedo.
This second win by Corazon Sin Miedo was achieved in a five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) contest travelling one mile.
When the gates opened Corazon Sin Miedo was slowly out but Thomas did not rush the grey gelding as Thunderstrike (Ricardo Duhaney) blazed the early trail with Nez Perce (Tevin Foster) and Silver Tapp (Omar Simpson) being the closest pursuers.
Berry Boy (Daniel Thompson) also slowly out, made a sharp move on the outside leaving the half-mile marker to challenge Thunderstrike for the lead.
Entering the straight, five horses were stretched across the track and that closeness continued until the furlong pole with Sweet Surprise (Linton Steadman) and Kiah the 6-5 favourite now getting into the mix on the outside. At this time Corazon Sin Miedo was sixth but started to tread his way through and with a final burst Thomas got his mount across the line by three-parts-of-a-length.
Second was Sweet Surprise and third was the spot taken by Berry Boy.
