KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jockey Trevor "Slicer" Simpson in a measured ride down the backstretch and a strong surging effort in the last furlong on Layu Kawen was able to hold off the persistent challenge of Summer Sun to just win the ninth and penultimate race at Caymanas Park by half-a-length.
Trained by Adin “Dreddie” Williams, Layu Kawen was winning for the second time in a row and the three-year-old chestnut gelding achieved this goal in a Restricted Allowance for three-year-olds - non-winners of two event run over 9 +25 yards.
Second went to Summer Sun and third to 1-5 favourite, Big Bang.
The winning time was a solid 1:58.3.
