KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh race on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, sees eight, three-year-old maidens will face the starter at five furlongs round.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is provided below.

– SMOOTH AVIATOR is a bay colt (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Classy Aviator, trained by Jason DaCosta with Phillip Parchment aboard. Smooth Aviator is one of the main beneficiaries of the shortest of trips on the round course. Will have to be caught.

– SLAM DUNK is a bay colt (March 9) by Sensational Slam Dunk out of Akela, trained by Gary Subratie with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. Note, Slam Dunk races with the visor on. Always heavily back in each of his four visits to the starting gates. On Labour Day, Slam Dunk competes against his weakest opposition yet, and is therefore given the perfect opportunity of placing his first tick in the win column.

– ROARING THUNDER is a grey colt (April 16) by Spieth out of Little Thunder, trained by Gary Griffiths with Reyan Lewis aboard. With 14 starts in his hoofs already, Roaring Thunder is the most experienced of this lot. Good for a place on the board.

– EL SALTO DE FE is a chestnut colt (May 7) by Bold Conquest out of Afleet Queen, trained by Marlon Brown with Matthew Bennett aboard. Doing well in the morning and has to be watched closely.

– TON LUANA is a bay filly (April 12) by Fearless Vision out of Raksha, trained by Ryan Darby with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. Caught the eye when finishing fourth by two lengths on debut (May 7) at four furlongs. Then Ton Luana was finishing well, and must be respected in this one.

- NORBLAR is a bay colt (February 20) by Wannabeaplayer out of Special Degree, trained by Gresford Smith with Dane Dawkins aboard. Said to be moving well in the mornings. The fact that the champion jockey is in the saddle is a clear indication that Norblar is coming for a good first effort.

– THE LOVE OF GOD is a chestnut filly (February 22) by Lion Tamer out of The Principal, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Javaniel Patterson aboard. No realistic chance of winning.

– JACK DANIEL is a chestnut colt (March 1) by Soul Warrior out of Antioch, trained by Ricardo Brown with Ameth Robles aboard.  Will not influence the outcome.
