The stage is set for the highly anticipated Mouttet Mile this coming Saturday, December 6, and the leading contenders have now wrapped up their final gallop preparations.
Over the weekend of Saturday, November 29, 2025 and Sunday, November 30, 2025, Caymanas Park was alive with energy, as horses and trainers delivered workouts that revealed the readiness or lack thereof of their charges.

- Legacy Isle (Rohan Crichton) Last year’s runner-up sent a clear message: he’s back and sharper than ever. Legacy Isle went through five furlongs in a fast 58.3 seconds, a time that suggests he’s primed to go one better this year. His gallop was crisp, aggressive, and brimming with intent.
- Mojito (Richard Azan) Fresh off his Jamaica Cup victory, Mojito opted for a more measured tune-up. He breezed six furlongs in 1:24.2, a relaxed effort that hinted at confidence rather than urgency. Azan’s charge appears to be conserving his fire for race day.
- Nautical Star (Anthony Nunes) The buzz horse of the moment, Nautical Star, has yet to race locally but continues to impress in training. In what is expected to be his final gallop before the Mile, he clocked 1:12.1 (ridden) for six furlongs. The time was sharp, but more importantly, the manner of his run suggested untapped potential. He’s the mystery card in this deck.
- Pack Plays (Rowan Mathie) A model of consistency, Pack Plays turned in a steady 1:14.2 for six furlongs. Not flashy, but reliable—exactly the kind of preparation that makes him a dangerous dark horse in big races.
- Tiz Tok (Anthony Nunes) Another from the Nunes barn, Tiz Tok galloped 5½ furlongs in 1:08.1. The effort was conservative, almost restrained, but it keeps him in the conversation as a tactical player.

Sunday’s gallops shifted the spotlight to Jason DaCosta’s powerful string, which dominated the morning session.
- Mojito (Richard Azan) Back on the track, Mojito sharpened up with a stronger effort than Saturday, clocking 1:14.1 for six furlongs. The back-to-back gallops suggest a horse being fine-tuned with precision.
- Dothraki (Jason DaCosta) Delivered a polished 1:25.3 for seven furlongs.
- Funcaandun (Jason DaCosta) The defending Mile champion, though not guaranteed a spot this year due to earnings, matched Dothraki’s time with 1:25.3 for seven furlongs. Even with uncertainty surrounding his participation, the gallop was a reminder of his class.
- Girvano (Jason DaCosta) Clocked 1:26.1 for seven furlongs, a solid if slightly slower effort. He may not have dazzled, but his consistency keeps him in the mix.
- I Dream Again (Jason DaCosta) The Derby winner turned in a sedate 1:20.3 for six furlongs.
