Gary Griffiths continues to showcase his horsemanship by consistently producing winners in horse racing.
Griffiths had two successful entries on the 10-race card on Saturday, October 28, 2023: Turnonthelight and Here Comes Doc.
Despite being overlooked at odds of 26-1, Turnonthelight, ridden by Tevin Foster, managed to outpace Will The Conquerer at the finish line in the opening event. The race was a three-year-old and upwards claiming contest for a purse between $1 million and $800,000, held on a five-straight (1,000m) course.
Turnonthelight initially struggled to keep up with the leading pack and spent most of the race trailing behind. However, after crossing the dummy rails, Turnonthelight made a remarkable comeback just in time to secure a win by a short head in 59.4 seconds (23.1 x 46.0).
In contrast, Here Comes Doc claimed victory more effortlessly. The three-year-old bay colt won by an impressive six lengths in a seven-furlong (1,400m) maiden condition event for native-bred three-year-olds.
Ridden by Anthony Allen, Here Comes Doc trailed behind the leaders during the first half of the race before overtaking competitors in the final stretch to claim his maiden victory.
Sweet Victory (Tevin Foster) finished second, followed closely by Home Alone (Shane Richardson). The winning time was an impressive 1:30.1 (25.1 x 50.0 x 1:15.3).
