KINGSTON, Jamaica – Returning from a rest of 175 days, imported bay filly, showed another glimpse of her potential when winning the Caymanas Saturday seventh.
Lure of Lucy’s second win from five starts was in a three/four-year-old (non-winners of four) and an imported three-year-old and up (no-winners of three) contest at 5 ½ furlongs.
When the gates opened Lure of Lucy ridden by Anthony Thomas for trainer Jason DaCosta was close to the leader Hoist The Mast (Kiaman McGregor).
Hoist The Mast carried the field with splits of 23.0 x 46.0 and was first to reach the straight for the last two furlongs. Lure of Lucy was then switched to the inside rails by Thomas, got going with a furlong and a half left in the event.
Digging in deep, Hoist The Mast tried her best but could not hold off a now fully in stride Lure of Lucy who went on to win by 2 ¾ lengths. Third went to Awesome Choice (Jerome Innis).
This was the second winner on the day for both Thomas and DaCosta.
