KINGSTON, Jamaica – Impressively bred by Soul Warrior out of Runallday, three-year-old bay Lord Ceasar caught the attention of pundits with an exhilarating beginning to his racing career on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Trained by Anthony Nunes, with Raddesh Roman riding, in a maiden event for three-year-olds, Lord Caesar staggered out of his starting barrier, racing at the back of the six-horse field.
Roman, to his credit, was not perturbed, as he waited on Lord Caesar, biding his time with precision. Smoothly navigating by rivals, Lord Caesar entered the straight with still a lot to do.
Then racing fans were able to see the early signs of a progressive colt, as Lord Caesar accelerated with aplomb, searing by rivals to win by 4 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:09.4, with recorded splits of 24.1 by 49.1.
“It is always pleasing to see one of your ‘babies’ win on debut.
“Lord Caesar is still green. He is still learning, with a long way to go.
“He broke badly and swerved, then raced easily going around the turn, before quickening in the straight, which is a good sign for future engagements.
“Definitely, a good start by Lord Caesar, and we will continue to closely monitor his development,” trainer Nunes told Quickgallopja.com.
