KINGSTON, Jamaica – He is not churning out the winners like is past years, therefore 18-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta must have felt some relief after his trainee Loose Ball won third time out.

Loose Ball, a three-year-old dark bay gelding by Fearless Vision – My Friend Lucy won Division Two of a Maiden Condition event for three-year-olds run over six furlongs. This was the ninth of 11 races on the Caymanas, Saturday card.

In a field of nine runners, following the late non-starting of number three State of Emergency, jockey Jerome “Cranberry” Innis pushed through Loose Ball to take the lead but they were constantly being tested by Powerman (Aaron Chatrie – 30-1).

Powerman went wide entering the lane while Innis kept Loose Ball on the inside rails, moving away from the pack to win by 5 ½ lengths.

Second was Miss Gabbidon (Paul Francis – 5-1) with Just An Illusion third with Kerry-Gayl Robinson in the saddle running at odds of 9-2.

The winning time was 1:15.0.
