Long-Standing Horse Racing Official Barbara Hewitt Passes Away At 90

The local horse racing community and The Quick Galloper team are deeply saddened to report the passing of veteran racing official Barbara Hewitt, who died on Monday, October 5, at the age of 90.

For over half a century, Miss Hewitt was an indispensable pillar of the sport. Her career spanned five decades of administrative evolution within the industry, during which she adapted to changing promotional company structures and operational models.

Most notably, Miss Hewitt served as the head of purse disbursements, a high-responsibility role. In this capacity, she ensured that owners, trainers, jockeys, and grooms were accurately and promptly compensated, earning her immense respect across every corner of the stable area and administrative offices.

The Quick Galloper extends its deepest gratitude to Barbara Hewitt for her 50-plus years of distinguished service to horse racing, and offers heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones, and the entire racing fraternity.
