KINGSTON, Jamaica – US bred chestnut colt Gilbert after paying his dues on seven occasions produced a searing late burst to register his first victory in the straight five Caymanas Saturday fifth. That race was a maiden for foreigners and a non-winners of two for locally bred campaigners.
The first win by Gilbert trained by Philip Feanny, was aided by the competence of veteran Everton ‘Killa’ Miller in the saddle. Miller kept Gilbert on the outside from the gates were opened and watched as Buzz City Light (Anthony Thomas) from the one draw set the early splits with 1-2 favourite Perfect Brew (Bebto Harvey) following closely.
