KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Phillip Parchment has appealed the decision of the stewards of the racing’s regulatory body, the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) to suspend him for 25 race days.
Parchment, who is also president of the Jamaica Jockeys’ Guild, was suspended following actions taken by the racing stewards on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, with the suspension set to commence on August 30.
A press release from the JRC stated that: “Jockey Phillip Parchment who rode Wayne’scherrylinks in the tenth race (Jamaica Oaks) on Saturday, August 2, 2025, was suspended for 25 days for the intimidation and interference caused to Linguist and Danka by drifting left continuously. The suspension will commence on August 30, 2025."
The appeal by Parchment means the case will now be heard by the commissioners of the JRC. If the JRC commissioners throws out the appeal by Parchment, he has the right to pursue the matter further in the Courts.
