Veteran jockey Oneil Mullings, a well-known figure in Jamaica’s racing community, was tragically murdered on Sunday night, September 21, 2025, in the Waterhouse area of St Andrew.
His death has sent shockwaves through the sport he devoted his life to.
The St Andrew South Police Division confirmed that a suspect has been identified as investigations continue.
Born on April 2, 1976, Mullings was 49 years old at the time of his passing.
Over an approximate 23-year career, he rode more than 400 winners, reaching his milestone 400th victory aboard Princess Akilah on August 6, 2024, a career moment of great significance for Mullings. His final win came with Generational on July 19, 2025, trained by Carlton Cunningham.
