Apprentice rider Javier Sybble achieved his maiden victory on Saturday, January 4, 2025, steering Town Star to victory in a maiden condition race for horses aged four and older, competing over 7 furlongs at Caymanas Park.
Trained and owned by Donovan Plummer, the four-year-old bay colt, sired by Tapilu and out of Starofthetown, came-from-behind performance, ultimately winning by a length and three-quarters with a final time of 1:31.4 (25.3 x 50.4 x 1:18.0).
Initially struggling to keep up with the early frontrunners—D Bay Machine (ridden by Christopher Mamdeen), Noble Sovereign (Roger Hewitt), and Pappie Don (Emelio McLean)—Town Star found himself at the back of the pack in the six-horse field. As the race progressed down the backstretch, it appeared Town Star was overwhelmed, trailing the leaders as they rounded the half-mile turn.
However, Town Star began to ignite as the competitors approached the distance. Sybble capitalized on the opportunity, maneuvering his mount along the inside rails. Town Star responded vigorously, unleashing a strong finishing kick to secure a convincing win.
Pappie Don finished second, while Linstead Market, ridden by Richard Henry was third.
