KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a bang-up finish D Head Cornerstone under a swashbuckling ride from jockey Javaniel Patterson dug deep into his reserves to hold off the persistent challenge of Outbidder (Reyan Lewis).
In this Overnight Allowance event going 7 ½ furlongs, Outbidder set the fractions with Brinks (Omar Waker) always on the outside. In the lane, Brinks got a slight advantage, but Outbidder was not in the mood to give up.
Then Patterson brought the Gary Subratie-trained D Head Cornerstone with his final effort, taking the lead with a furlong to go but still had to hold off the resurgent run of Outbidder, winning by a head when the post arrived.
