The tenth and final event on the race card is the Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy, marking the 5th running of this race over a distance of 6 ½ furlongs.
This event is exclusively reserved for three-year-olds and upward that have not yet secured a victory at the Overnight Allowance level.
A competitive, full field of 16 runners has been officially nominated to contest the trophy.
The Quick Galloper’s breakdown and assessment of each contender, presented in official draw order, follows below:
1 - BOB THE BUILDER
Since stepping up to this class, Bob The Builder has been a regular competitor, boasting two runner-up finishes to his credit. He performed admirably when finishing third over the 5-straight on July 11, coming home just three-quarters of a length behind I Dream Again. However, he failed to replicate that form on August 29, trailing home tenth and 35 lengths adrift. While he possesses decent early speed, starting from the tricky rail draw (gate one) presents a significant hurdle.
2 - MOHANLAL
This promising three-year-old has done well to work his way up to this class, though his first two tries at the level ended well back. Because this particular field excludes past winners at the Overnight level, Mohanlal gets a gilt-edged chance to make his presence felt, particularly with the champion jockey enlisted to ride.
3 – DANKA
A relative newcomer to this grade who naturally prefers to race on the pace, a style that may prove challenging over the 6 ½ furlong trip. Expect her to show plenty of early foot and influence the early fractions before likely fading in the stretch.
4 – NEBUCHADNEZZAR
Still adjusting to the competitive demands of Overnight Allowance company. He now gets a great opportunity to get closer to the action while squaring off against rivals who are also searching for their maiden win at this level.
5 – CALIFORNIA GOLD
Difficult to make a case for as a realistic win contender.
6 - PRINCESS FIANIE
Still has considerable progress to make if she is to figure against this calibre of opposition.
7 - MY SUNSHINE
A known front-running speedster who is sure to inject plenty of pace into the race early on. Whether he has the stamina to carry that speed over the full distance remains the big question.
8 - I DREAM AGAIN
I Dream Again has been heavily backed by punters in many of his recent starts, though he has frequently fallen short of expectations across various distances. However, facing a field of more familiar rivals, he is exceptionally well-positioned to register his fifth career win, he will rarely find a softer spot to get the job done.
9 – STARRAURA
Shows good early zip, but this group may prove a bit too testing right now; expect him to find his footing and break through soon.
10 – MARK MY IDENTITY
Sidelined for 125 days, Mark My Identity returns to action here. He was last seen finishing sixth behind Miss Grove and American Aviator over 7 furlongs back on June 28. Reportedly training well ahead of his comeback, his class alone makes him a major threat right off the bench.
11 – ABREATHOFFRESHAIR
Expected to struggle to keep up with the early tempo.
12 – KING PIYE
Current form suggests he lacks the sharpness needed to worry these rivals.
13 – FORMALIST
Another pace-preserver finding life tough going in Overnight company, and the 6 ½ furlong distance looks likely to stretch his stamina limits.
14 - COOKIE DAY N NIGHT
A seasoned veteran who is well-known for occasionally popping up with a surprisingly strong late run. One to keep in mind for the exotic betting combinations.
15 - HONOUR PRINCE
Put in a disappointing performance down the straight course on October 10. A much stronger bid is anticipated with the return to this extended distance.
16 - PRINCESS CATALEYA
Difficult to recommend with any confidence based on current form.
