KINGSTON, Jamaica - After the first two months of the 2024 racing season, four-year-old foreigner, Is That A Fact is the leading money earner, with KP Choice, the horse with the most wins, three.
Is That A Fact, trained by Jason DaCosta, has raced three times in 2024, recording two wins, and one second-place finish. Thus far, Is That A Fact has earned a total of $2,892,400, which should go a long way in earning a spot in the Mouttet Mile in December.
Not far behind Is That A Fact is the Horse of the Year, Atomica, who from her two starts, has accomplished a win in the Ian levy Cup (8 ½ furlongs), and a second-place effort in the Chairman’s Plate (7 ½ furlongs).
Atomica has earned $2,654,400 for her connections.
Occupying the third slot is KP Choice with earnings of $1,785,400. KP Choice with three wins from as many starts, is the leader in the win column, an accomplishment which should be highly lauded.
KP Choice's first win in 2024 was on January 27 (5 furlongs straight) in a $1 million claiming event. It was in the same category, that KP Choice achieved his second victory, this time over 5 ½ furlongs.
Then to the surprise of many, KP Choice entered the realm of Overnight Allowance on February 14, tearing away from rivals going five furlongs round, winning by all of 5 ½ lengths, with Robert Halledeen in the saddle, for trainer Raymond Townsend.
In fourth place is probably the most improved runner in 2024, Sensational Move, with two wins from three starts, plus one second-place finish, for earnings of $1,674,400.
Certainly, a horse to watch in 2024, is number seven on the earnings list, the DaCosta trained importee, Funcaandun.
Funcaandun has raced twice and has won on those two occasions, earning $1,250,000.
