Horse Of The Year Atomica Returns On Labour Day

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2022 Horse of the Year, Atomica, has been nominated to start in the Labour Day Trophy on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

The Labour Day Trophy is an Overnight Allowance call for three-year-olds and upwards horses at seven furlongs.

With familiar rider Dane Dawkins in the saddle, the Gary Subratie trained now four-year-old filly made her seasonal bow on April 8, in the Saint Cecelia Trophy (6 ½ furlongs), when she finished in 13th place, with 13 runners starting the race. The Saint Cecelia was taken by I Am Fred in a time of 1:18.2.

In the Labour Day Trophy, Atomica faces eight rivals, including fellow four-year-olds Perfect Brew, and foreigner Champion Bubbler.

Atomica last galloped on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, over four furlongs clocking a time of 49.1 seconds.
