KINGSTON, Jamaica - Hoist The Mast completed her second consecutive win in a $860,000 three-year-old and upward claiming ($750,000-$600,000) spread going 6 furlongs (1,200m).
Hoist The Mast shot to the front at the start of the race and held the lead ahead of Heiroffire (Roger Hewitt), Donalmighty (Reyan Lewis), and GT Boy (Phillip Parchment). The Anthony Nunes trainee then upped the tempo ahead of Donalmighty going into the half-mile turn and continued to show the way entering the drive.
Jockey Tevin Foster rolled over the five-year-old chestnut mare to win by 1 ¾ lengths. GT Boy finished second and Another Bullet (Anthony Allen) came home in second place. The final time was 1:14.3 (23.0 x 47.0).
As expected Hoist The Mast was claimed after this victory by trainer Oral Hayden for $750,000.
