KINGSTON, Jamaica - This Saturday, April 19, the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) of Jamaica Trophy will take centre stage at Caymanas Park, featuring a competitive field of seven runners vying for victory in a 7½ furlong race.
Tailored for locally bred horses aged three and four that are non-winners of four races, the event also opens its doors to foreign contenders aged three and older, provided they have not won three races.
RACE ASSESSMENT BY THE QUICK GALLOPER
1 - BATTLE ANGEL: Recently celebrating victory, Battle Angel steps into a tougher new class, facing more formidable rivals. Battle Angel may require some time to acclimatize to this new racing environment.
2 - BRENDA BOY: Brenda Boy is not expected to pose a serious threat in this race.
3 - GIRVANO: An impressive winner in his last outing against Fred The Master on March 23, Girvano triumphed by 1½ lengths, clocking in at 1:26.3 for the 7-furlong distance. Given his adaptable running style, the slight increase in distance should play to his strengths.
4 - BLU SENSATION: Moving up in grade, Blu Sensation could find the competition challenging as he faces a new set of opponents.
5 - NEPHEW: Rapidly improving, Nephew has rebounded from a previous disqualification to secure victory. Although facing a step up in class, the apprentice rider's weight allowance of four kilogrammes positions Nephew favourably for another potential win.
6 - FRED THE MASTER: After his defeat to Girvano, Fred The Master lost ground in the closing stages. However, he has shown strong training form, and with the addition of blinkers, he looks poised for an improved performance.
7 - UNRULY MO: A consistent performer, Unruly Mo is a reliable choice and could be a strong addition to exotic wagers.
