Conditioned by Jason DaCosta and sired by Girvin out of Summer In Midway, the bay colt altered his typical tactics under jockey Tevin Foster. Rather than utilizing his standard late-closing run, Girvano travelled comfortably along the backstretch before Foster pushed him to the lead around the second turn. Once straightening for home with a commanding lead, he steadily widened the gap on the field.
