Double for trainer Jason DaCosta, jockey Dane Nelson

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After four starts, and with the blinkers taken off by trainer Jason DaCosta, Giant Wheeler (Dane Nelson) dispatched the tag of maiden in the Caymanas Sunday (March 27) eighth.
Giant Wheeler’s first victory was accomplished in a three-year-old maiden condition contest (Division One), going 6 ½ furlongs.
It was the Gresford Smith trained Omar Walker ridden One Like It, who set the early splits with first timer Morimoto (Robert Halledeen), and Giant Wheeler in close attendance.
One Like It kept his momentum going while rounding the turn edging further from his two main rivals. Nelson asked Giant Wheeler to get closer and they entered the straight for the last two furlongs a breath away from One Like It.
Giant Wheeler then began to accelerate going by One Like It with ease but Morimoto running green came on well but the more seasoned Giant Wheeler won by 1 ½ lengths. Morimoto finished second with One Like It third. The winning time was 1:21.3.
The win by Giant Wheeler gave Nelson and DaCosta their second success on the day.
