KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a tight finish jockey Robert Halledeen propelled the Gary Subratie trained 10-1 outsider Uncle Vinnie to victory in the third of nine races on the Saturday (August 15) programme at Caymanas Park.

Uncle Vinnie’s upset win came in a claiming event ($1,000,000 - $850,000) run over 7 ½ furlongs.

Thepowersthatbe (Anthony Allen) sped off to the lead when the gates opened followed by Uncle Vinnie. Leaving the half-mile marker Uncle Vinnie took over with Salah (Raddesh Roman) and Sebastian (Paul Francis) lurking to strike when ready.

In the straight with 1 ½ furlongs left in the contest both Salah went by Uncle Vinnie but Halledeen using his strength was able to get a final effort from his mount to claim victory by half-a-length.

Salah was second and Sebastian third.
