KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2025 juvenile campaign rolls forward with a compact but competitive sprint over four furlongs scheduled for Saturday, September 13.

Seven locally bred two-year-olds are entered, each representing a different stage of development and preparation.

Below is The Quick Galloper’s full assessment of the field.

1 – SENOR BISCOTTI

Bay colt foaled February 2 by Savoy Stomp out of Baby P. Trained by Richard Azan. Teneca Wolfe will take the reins. Senor Biscotti has been methodically conditioned for his first competitive appearance. His final preparatory gallop occurred on Sunday, September 8, when paired with Rainsville over the same four-furlong distance. The clock registered 49.0 seconds, a time that places him among the sharper workers in this line -up. The colt has shown consistency in his morning drills and is expected to be forwardly placed from the break.

2 – DARWIN

Bay colt foaled February 27 by Casual Trick out of Cape. Trained by Richard Azan. Paul Francis is assigned to ride. Darwin shares the same barn as Senor Biscotti and was involved in the same workout on September 8. In that gallop, Darwin completed the four furlongs in 49.2 seconds, slightly slower than his stablemate. While the margin was minimal, it may reflect a difference in readiness between the two. For now, Darwin enters with a solid foundation but may find himself chasing the pace rather than dictating it.

3 – GOD’S PLAN

Chestnut colt foaled May 5 by Aveenu Malcainu out of Fearless Abi. Trained by Gary Subratie. Dane Dawkins will guide. God’s Plan is one of the later foals in this field and makes his debut without the benefit of a public trial. His connections have opted for a quiet build-up, and while his trainer is known for producing well-schooled juveniles, the colt’s readiness remains speculative. God’s Plan may require additional time to reach competitive form.

4 – MY FRIEND MICKI

Chestnut filly foaled January 21 by Savoy Stomp out of Bubbling Angeline. Trained by Gary Griffiths. Demar Williams will ride. My Friend Micki enters with one race under her belt, a three-furlong dash in which she finished behind both Maybelle and Fidelity—two runners she faces again here. Notably, she races without blinkers this time, a tactical change that may affect her early positioning. She must show marked improvement to reverse the form against those who bested her previously.

5 – BLYTHWOOD Bay colt foaled February 14 by Wow Wow out of She’s An Introvert. Trained by Anthony Nunes. Raddesh Roman will be aboard. Blythwood has been given a deliberate and structured preparation leading into his debut. His final gallop on September 8 was conducted alongside Uncaptured Princess, and he completed the four furlongs in 48.0 seconds—the fastest recorded time among all entrants. That effort positions him as a serious contender. The colt’s sire, Wow Wow, was known for speed, and Blythwood appears to have inherited that trait. His trainer has a strong record with debutants, and the pairing with Roman adds further confidence. Blythwood is expected to be prominent throughout.

6 – MAYBELLE

Bay filly foaled March 29 by Sensational Slam out of Let’s Get It On. Trained by Jason DaCosta. Clive Lynch will ride. Maybelle returns for her second start after finishing third in her debut, two lengths behind Salute The Don. That effort came over three furlongs and showed that she possesses early pace. With race experience now in hand, Maybelle is likely to improve and could be among the first to challenge for the lead. Her familiarity with competition gives her an edge over the newcomers.

7 – FIDELITY Bay gelding foaled March 28 by Bern Identity out of Hush My Darling. Trained by Jason DaCosta. Shane Ellis will take the mount. Fidelity made a strong impression in his debut, finishing second by a length to Salute The Don. That race was run over three furlongs, and Fidelity closed fairly well in the final stages. Since then, he has continued to progress in morning gallops, showing some improvement. His gelded status may contribute to a more focused performance, and his pairing with veteran rider Shane Ellis adds tactical assurance.

THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT

This sprint features a blend of debutants and lightly raced juveniles, with several showing promise in morning workouts. Blythwood’s 48.0-second gallop stands out as the fastest and most decisive, placing him at the top of the shortlist. Senor Biscotti and Fidelity follow closely, with the former showing steady preparation and the latter bringing race-day experience. Maybelle and My Friend Micki return with form lines that intersect, but Fidelity holds the edge in that matchup. Darwin and God’s Plan may need additional time to reach their peak.
