The third race of ten on the card of Saturday, September 26, 2026, is for native-bred three-year-old and four-year-old horses, non-winners of four races, as well as for three-year-old and up foreigners, non-winners of three races.
A small field of six will go to post travelling a distance of six furlongs.
This event is heavily dominated by champion trainer Jason DaCosta, who conditions five of the six starters, leaving Adrian Prince as the sole conditioner breaking up a potential barn sweep. The Quick Galloper’s analysis is published below for the perusal of readers on this website.
1 – BIGGER BOSS
Bay colt (January 27) by Bern Identity out of Woman Is Boss
Trainer – Jason DaCosta
Jockey – Shaheem Gordon
Has had a rather disappointing three-year-old campaign, continuously failing to deliver on early potential and struggling to find consistent rhythm. Nothing will change in this one, as he faces tough opposition and looks outclassed over this trip.
2 – GALLANT GROOM (USA)
Four-year-old brown colt by Golden Lad out of D D Renegade
Trainer – Jason DaCosta
Jockey – Tevin Foster
It took only two starts for this US-bred to win his first race in Jamaica. Gallant Groom dominated rivals by all of 16 lengths after taking the lead early going 6 ½ furlongs on August 29. Since then, he has been doing well at morning exercise, looking sharp and full of running. He will not find an easier field to dominate once again, and with top jockey Tevin Foster aboard, he does not even have to lead to assert his superiority. He looks the standout choice.
3 – EYE OF THE TIGER
Bay colt (May 30) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Full Moon’s Enough
Trainer – Jason DaCosta
Jockey – Abigail Able
Has good early speed, which often allows him to set or contest the pace in the early fractions. However, that pace is not much of an advantage racing against these, especially given the presence of stronger finished runners like his stablemate Gallant Groom. Expect him to be prominent early before fading late.
4 – HAZELNUT
Chestnut filly by Soul Warrior out of Money Magnet
Trainer – Adrian Prince
Jockey – Jaheim Anderson
Broke a barren winning spell seven days ago by leading at 5 ½ furlongs, showing determination to hold strong in the straight under a firm ride. Coming in off quick turnaround tactics with boosted confidence, she represents the only non-DaCosta runner in the lineup. Based on that recent victorious form, she cannot be ignored and looks best poised to grab a slice of the minor contingencies.
5 – MIDNIGHT TRAVELLER
Chestnut filly (February 13) by Aveenu Malcainu out of Esperanza
Trainer – Jason DaCosta
Jockey – Gavin Harris
Has struggled to make any meaningful impression against non-winners of four company in recent outings. She lacks the acceleration required to threaten the top contenders here and can be safely taken out of any winning calculations.
6 – FIDELITY
Bay gelding (March 28) by Bern Identity out of Hush My Darling
Trainer – Jason DaCosta
Jockey – Calvin Bailey
Has been a major disappointment at three, failing to build on his early juvenile promise and showing limited kick in the final furlong. Fidelity is just filling a gap in this line-up to round out the stable entries.
