KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was expected to be a sprint duel between Formal Fashion (Robert Halledeen) and Deep Blue Sea (Raddesh Roman), and so it turned out.
This was the seventh race of eight on the Sunday (Oct 11) card now in progress at Caymanas Park – a restricted allowance 3 for four-year-olds and upwards non-winners of four travelling 5 ½ furlongs.
Deep Blue Sea with Roman riding for the last time with his claiming weight in tact shot to the lead like a tsunami from the outside draw with Halledeen holding back on Formal Gladiator but close enough to pounce when ready.
In the straight it was a do or die fight between the two with Halledeen calling on all his strength as he rocked Formal Gladiator to victory in the final stride.
Deep Blue Sea was second but was later disqualified and placed behind Unknown Soldier who got second.
The final time was 1:05.3.
