APPEAL – JOCKEYS O’NEIL MULLINGS & NICHOLAS HIBBERT vs. STEWARDS’ DECISION

On Thursday 19th May, 2022, the Jamaica Racing Commission heard appeals submitted by Jockeys Nicholas Hibbert and O’Neil Mullings against the Stewards’ decision to have them suspended from racing for a period of Twenty-Five (25) race days and a fine amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00). This was following investigations into an altercation between both Mr. Mullings and Mr. Hibbert which took place on November 1, 2021.
The Commission upheld the fine imposed by the Stewards in the amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20, 000.00).
The Commission further ruled that the suspension period of twenty-five (25) race days as given by the Stewards be served as follows:
Both Jockeys will serve a fifteen (15) race day suspension commencing on May 28, 2022 and the remaining ten (10) race days be suspended for a period of six (6) months.
NOTE BY QUICKGALLOP.COM – In case of the suspension -  Both Jockeys will serve a fifteen (15) race day suspension commencing on May 28, 2022 and the remaining ten (10) race days be suspended for a period of six (6) months. This in effect means that Mullings and Hibbert 15 days as stipulated by the Commission but if he is found guilty for an offence during the period of the suspended sentence, then they will have to serve the full 25 days.
