INSPIRED MIRACLE IN A ROMP
The Jason DaCosta-conditioned Inspired Miracle easily brushed aside rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000-$300,000) spread at one mile (1,600m).
With Phillip Parchment in the saddle, Inspired Miracle, the 1-5 favourite, broke sharply when the gates opened and held the lead over Graydon (Javaniel Patterson) and Thunderstrike (Dick Cardenas) down the backstretch.
Inspired Miracle then advanced further and further away from rivals at the half-mile (800m). Turning for home with a clear lead, Inspired Miracle sprinted home to score by 11½ lengths.
War of the Roses, under Anthony Thomas, came from far behind to get second place, with My Mom Juss (Roger Hewitt) in third place. The final time for the race was 1:43.2.
LIGHTNING MCQUEEN WINS NORMAL MANLEY CUP
Seven-year-old bay horse Lightning McQueen made one move to win the $840,000 Norman Manley Memorial Cup, a three-year-old and upwards Claiming ($750,000-$600,000) call over 5 furlongs (1,000m) round.
Lightning McQueen, ridden by Tevin Foster, went straight for the lead at the off and carried the field into the half-mile turn as stablemate Alexa’s Lodge (Jerome Innis) chased with the followers being Diosa De Oro (Ramon Nepare) and Custer (Anthony Thomas).
‘Lightning’ turned for home on the bridled and with no real challengers coming forward, the Alford Brown trainee got home to win by a length and three quarters. Alexa’s Lodge was second and Secret Traveller (Roger Hewitt) finished third. The winning time was 1:01.3.
ROBERT FFRENCH SADDLES FIRST CAREER WINNER
Trainer Robert Ffrench saddled the first winner of his career Ultimate Machine, who made all to win a native-bred three-year-old maiden special weight event on the round course at five furlongs.
Jockey Roger Hewitt sent Ultimate Machine straight to the front at the off and the chestnut colt blazed the trail going into the half-mile turn ahead of North London (Oneil Mullings), Storm A Come (Dane Dawkins), Manaco (Anthony Thomas), and Real Bigman (Dick Cardenas).
Ultimate Machine continued to show rivals the way entering the drive, going on to win by 3 lengths. Storm A Come was second with Real Bigman finishing third.
SEVEN HORSES CLAIMED
In the first race Dale Murphy claimed Graydon for owner Vincent Lawrence from Dennis Pryce, Leroy Tomlinson claimed Olde Wharf for owner Kyle Brown from Renex Burrell, and Ian Alexander claimed Inspired Miracle for owner Henley Wilson from Jason DaCosta. All three horses went for $400,000 each.
Alexander then claimed the winner of the fifth race Okahumpka for owner Anthony Chin from Ryan Williams for $180,000.
In the sixth race, Donovan Plummer claimed Mamasharondarling for owner Langford Jackto from Uton Stewart, Paul Hylton claimed Kingswood for owner Henry Mitto from Norman Smith, and Delroy Spencer claimed Diligent for owner Patrick Hall from Steven Todd. All three horses were claimed for $250,000 each.
