Post-Race Interview
QUICKGALLOPJA (QG) Spencer Chung (SC)
QG: How did Champion Bubbler come out of the race?
SC: So far, so good. There's nothing to worry about.
QG: Were you expecting this result against strong competitors like Digital One, Pack Plays, and Bootylicious?
SC: I knew it was going to be a tough race, but I always had hope for a favourable outcome.
QG: Can we now assume that Champion Bubbler is best suited for straight-course racing?
SC: She has certainly thrived on the straight, winning three consecutive races. While it may seem she is solely a chute specialist, I believe she is more versatile. It just happened that these races fit the calendar, and we took the opportunity. Don't forget she performed well as a two-year-old despite struggling initially to acclimatize. As an imported horse, she faced challenges, particularly due to a condition known as dry coat. At one point, she lost significant weight, which was difficult to manage in the stables. However, with patience and proper care, she overcame those issues. Now, she's healthy, enjoying herself, and racing with confidence. As for competing around the bend, I don't see that as a problem.
QG: Thank you, Trainer Chung.
Editor's Note: "Dry coat" in horses, also known as anhidrosis, is a condition that inhibits their ability to sweat. This can lead to difficulty in regulating body temperature, increasing the risk of overheating and heat stress—especially in warm, humid climates.
