KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Supreme Ventures 21st Anniversary Trophy, a three-year-old and upwards Graded Stakes event travelling 5 ½ furlongs on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Caymanas Park is set for a bang up finish.
Eight horses are entered with five entrants coming from the shedrow of trainer Jason DaCosta.
Drawn at one, Go Deh Girl trained by champion Anthony Nunes is coming off a four-length win (five furlongs straight) on May 28. Then Go Deh Girl had Duke and God of Love left in her wake. The latter two are present again, with especially Duke getting a substantial pull of nine pounds in the weights.
Every inch of the distance of this trophy race suits Duke, with God of Love also showing a preference for the trip.
With the weight advantage, Duke is primed for a winning run.
For Duke to earn his 12th victory from 54 career starts, he will have to deal with the buoyant filly Double Diva, who is seeking her fifth consecutive entry into the winners’ circle from six starts. This foreign filly has speed, will have a clear passage coming from the seven barrier, and is not burdened by too much weight.
Hover Craft can be safely left out of any consideration, leaving King Arthur, Eagle One, and I Am Fred. King Arthur blows hot and cold and has been recently displaying a change from going the longer distances to sprinting. He will have to stay close to the front runners, coming off the pace if a winning in this one is achievable.
Eagle One is coming off a break of 42 days and while doing well at exercise cannot effectively manage these.
I Am Fred is the springer in the market. He has enough speed to be close to the early speeders and he possesses a strong burst to deal with the final two furlongs.
Quite a race is in the making with THE QUICK GALLOPER going with Duke and Double Diva as the two to choose from, with Duke getting the nod.
