The third of ten races on Saturday, July 18, 2026, carries special significance, honouring the contribution of the late Barbadian owner and breeder, Elias Haloute. A multiple champion owner, Haloute, in partnership with his trainer Anthony Nunes, left an indelible mark on the local racing scene with a string of outstanding thoroughbreds.
The Elias Haloute event is restricted to locally bred three-year-olds at the non-winners of two level, and also open to maiden three and four-year-old foreigners. The distance is a testing 9½ furlongs, with six horses entered.

1 – JUVENTUS ONE
Three-year-old bay colt (January 17) by Savoy Stomp out of Texas Missy
Trainer – Anthony Nunes
Jockey – Omar Walker
Fresh from his maiden victory just 13 days ago at seven furlongs, Juventus One returns with momentum. Still in the early stages of development, the key question is whether he can stretch his stamina to handle 9½ furlongs. That query applies to most of his rivals as well. With natural pace and confidence from his recent win, Juventus One has a strong chance of doubling his tally. Expect him to be prominent from the break, likely dictating the early fractions.
2 – WHATASPUN (USA)
Three-year-old bay colt (March 16) by Spun To Run out of Miss Foo Foo
Trainer – Alford Brown
Jockey – Tyrese Anderson
Equipment Change – Blinkers and tongue tie on
Whataspun brings prior experience over two turns, having twice contested nine furlongs and 25 yards. However, his recent form has been poor, offering little encouragement. Even with equipment adjustments, his current trajectory makes him difficult to support as a genuine contender.
3 – WAH A GWAAN
Three-year-old bay colt (February 13) by Aveenu Malcainu out of She’s Irie
Trainer – Christopher Pierre
Jockey – Tevin Foster
A seasoned campaigner with 11 starts, Wah A Gwaan has never ventured beyond 6½ furlongs. The leap to 9½ furlongs is a stern assignment, yet his experience and toughness cannot be dismissed outright. If he settles and finds rhythm, his experience could keep him in the mix.
4 – ABUDAR
Three-year-old bay colt (January 16) by Savoy Stomp out of Ship Sham
Trainer – Richard Azan
Jockey – Tajay Suckoo
Equipment Change – Blinkers off
Abudar has already tested stamina, racing over nine furlongs and 25 yards. His lone success, however, came sprinting five furlongs straight. The removal of blinkers suggests a tactical shift, perhaps to encourage relaxation over the longer trip. With prior route experience, Abudar deserves consideration, though consistency remains his challenge.
5 – D.O.K
Three-year-old bay colt by Spieth out of Regency
Trainer – Anthony Nunes
Jockey – Shane Richardson
D.O.K faces a daunting task. His profile and performances suggest he is out of his depth at this level and distance. Unless significant improvement is unlocked, he appears unlikely to feature.
6 – PIPPA
Three-year-old bay filly (February 28) by Fearless Vision out of Anabama
Trainer – Richard Azan
Jockey – Raddesh Roman
The lone filly in the line-up, Pippa has struggled when stretched out, finishing well beaten in the one-mile 1000 Guineas. Now tasked with 9½ furlongs against colts, her assignment is even more demanding. She will need marked progress to trouble the principals.

i always appreciate a race of a distance of ground, at caymanas park we had at least five races of 10 furlongs per year, a mile and sixteenth is a classic distance in our neighbours racing calendar in north america ,in fact the PREAKNESS STAKES is of that distance second leg of the triple crown,my suggestion to the racing authorities is this,scrap the 9 fir/25 yards and implement more races of this distance 9fur1/2 into the local programme its also a spectators deligh to see them pass the stand for the first time in a stamina test, Mr.DENZIL MILLER please take notes.

The posting by A says is well appreciated. However, please recall that we have been steadily moving away from these longer distances because the breeders have not been propagating runners that can handle much beyond one and quarter miles. Why breed runners when the racing calendar has only a handful of races beyond 9 furlongs?
Sarurday’s program proves the point. A padded 9 1/2 furlong race with the bare minimum of six runners is on the program.
