The Stewards announce the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, Units 15-17 Big Buy Plaza, Portmore, St. Catherine, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Jockey EMELIO MCLEAN who rode JOHNCROWJEFF in the tenth (10th) race on Saturday, July 11, 2026, was fined Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) for excessive use of the whip during the running of the race.
Jockey EMELIO MCLEAN who rode MISS JUNGLE JEN in the sixth (6th) race on Saturday, July 11, 2026, was cautioned regarding the incident which led to the slipping of his right stirrup strap iron.
Jockey NICARDO CARR who rode SECRET SENSATION in the eight (8th) race on Saturday, July 11, 2026, was fined Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for excessive use of the whip during the running of the race.
Jockey ERIC HAUGHTON who rode ALLEGIANCE in the tenth (10th) race on Saturday, July 11, 2026, was fined Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for excessive use of the whip during the running of the race.
Jockey SHAHEEM GORDON who rode ROCK-OLA in the fourth (4th) race on Saturday, July 11, 2026, was fined Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for excessive use of the whip during the running of the race.
Trainer OMAR WILLIAMS who was summoned for the condition of his equipment was exonerated from any responsibility.

Question...with all the fines for excessive use of the whip to riders who hit horses by instinct in a calendar year,where does this money go, or to what cause is it chanelled ????. i suggested this a year ago,give jockeys options of not riding with a whip to lessen the chronic habit..will SUPREME VENTURES look into this for the sake of everyone involved in stewarding the sport.
Fines are imposed by the JRC, which is a government entity.
