Devastating run by Toona Ciliata as Dane Nelson rides five winners

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Now there is no doubt that Toona Ciliata is the best three-year-old in training and probably the best at his age never to win a Classic race.

In a show of devastating class, Toona Ciliata trained by Anthony Nunes just romped the 9 furlongs and 25 yards Nigel B Nunes Memorial Trophy in a very fast time of 1:53.3. This trophy race was an Open Allowance event and was the 10th of 11 races on the Caymanas mid-week card.

In doing so, Toona Cilita gave his rider Dane Nelson a fifth winner on the day. This was the second time in a month that Nelson was riding five winners on a single race day. The victory was also a family affair as trainer Anthony Nunes is the son of Nigel Nunes.

Houdini’s Magic and Summer Sun disputed the lead going down the backstretch. Passing the five-furlong marker, Toona Ciliata and Nelson took over and thereafter it was a procession.

Summer Sun finished second with Hover Craft third.
