Veteran trainer Dennis Lee celebrated a long overdue triumph on Saturday, July 26, 2025, as his charge Whisky galloped to victory in the sixth race at Caymanas Park.

Having eased back from active training over the years, Lee has only sent three horses to post this season. Whisky, a six-year-old bay gelding by Savoy Stomp out of Raise Your Voice, was making his first start under Lee's care, having been claimed just days earlier on July 29.

The seasoned campaigner made his presence felt immediately. Competing in a six-year-old-and-up Optional Claiming ($700,000–$600,000) for non-winners of four races, Whisky, ridden by claiming apprentice Demar Williams, wasted no time seizing the lead once the gates flew open in the 5 ½ furlong event.

Maintaining a strong pace throughout, Whisky surged home four lengths clear in a time of  1:09.2. Justin Biden, piloted by Shane Ellis, finished second, with Fearless Attack and jockey Phillip Parchment rounding out the top three.

The win marked Whisky’s fifth career victory from 38 starts and pushed his earnings past the $3.5 million mark.
