Decisions Taken By JRC Stewards

The Stewards announce the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, Unit 15-17 Big Buy Plaza, Portmore, St. Catherine, on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026.

Jockey SHAHEEM GORDON who rode SPARKLING FIRE in the ninth (9th) race on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 was severely cautioned for the Intimidation caused to horses MCMULLEN, ALL TOGETHER and LAUREN’S SECRET in the vicinity of the 900-metre mark.

Jockey CALVIN BAILEY was summoned for making threats towards another individual at Caymanas Park, in breach of Rule 247(xii) of the Racing Rules, 1977. Following consideration of his submission, Jockey Bailey was fined Twenty Thousand Dollars (J$20,000.00) and issued with a ten (10) race-day suspended sentence for his conduct.

Jockey JOSH EDWARDS, who uttered calumnious language towards a medical professional at the doctor’s office at Caymanas Park, was requested to issue a formal letter of apology.

Trainer BYRON DAVIS was summoned for his failure to report to the Commission the death of BENEISON, a horse under his charge, which was entered to compete in race No. 6 on Saturday, August 15, 2026. After hearing his submission, Trainer Davis was fined Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) for his negligence.
