KINGSTON, Jamaica – After missing out over the past three race days, jockey Dane Dawkins made a return to the winners’ enclosure in the Caymanas Monday sixth aboard the Richard Azan conditioned Rum Puncher. That event was for three-year-old maidens going seven furlongs.
Dawkins settled Rum Puncher just behind the early leader Cave Man (Roger Hewitt), but after three furlongs were completed, Dawkins decided he had enough and pushed Rum Puncher to the front with the 3-5 favourite I Realise (Anthony Thomas) moving at the same time on the outside.
In the straight, the front two sparred for a while and then Rum Puncher pulled away to win with easy by three lengths. I Realise finished second second with D Head Cornerstone (Allen Maragh) third.
