KINGSTON, Jamaica – This year’s renewal of the Royal Dad Trophy for three-year-olds (local bred non-four) and three and four-year-olds (foreigner bred) horses is set for this Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Caymanas Park.
Six horses have been entered in this two-turn event (nine furlongs and 25 yards). The Royal Dad is listed as the fourth race on the day.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S assessment of the six starters is provided below.
1 – D HEAD CORNERSTONE is a bay colt (March 23) by Bern Identity out of Soul of the Heart trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins aboard. This colt is well known for his ability to go long and having tested the water 21 days ago when finishing second by 2 ½ lengths behind Morimoto, D Head Cornerstone is primed for win number number three from his 11th start.
2 – REAL BOSS is a chestnut filly (USA – March 26) by Tonalist out of Hisse trained by Spencer Chung with Shane Ellis aboard. This US bred filly displayed her likeness for the longer distances when she released the maiden tag over nine furlongs, 14 days ago. Real Boss enters, for her as a foreigner, non-winners of three, for the first occasion and will have to wait.
3 – SUNSET SILHOUTTE is a bay filly (April 6) by Northern Giant out of Ahwhofah trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas aboard. A major disappointment based on her strong blood lines. Will earn, that is about it.
4 – PERFECT BREW is a bay gelding (May 10) by Bern Identity out of Moonlight Brew trained by Richard Azan with Reyan Lewis aboard. Perfect Brew has found a new lease on life as evidenced by his two wins in a row, and a third place at 9 ½ furlongs behind Brinks, and Morimoto. Perfect Brew will not be inconvenienced by the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards.
5 – PELICULA is a bay filly (April 19) by Soul Warrior out of Milestone trained by Richard Azan with Jordan Barrett aboard.  Pelicula will find it difficult in this one.
6 – HOWILOOKIN is a bay colt (February 12) by  Western Classic out of Gold Charm trained by Anthony Nunes with Carlos Blake aboard. Finding his way and will need time.
