Curlin’s Affair smoothly takes Caymanas Sunday fifth on debut – double for Anthony Nunes

KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was all systems go on debut for Curlin’s Affair in the Caymanas Sunday fifth.

Curlin’s Affair, a chestnut colt by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair bred/ owned by Michros, trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Robert Halledeen, slotted in second as Ballatelli (Javaniel Patterson) took off in front.

With three furlongs to go Halledeen pushed Curlin’s Affair to take over and the chestnut colt entered the last two furlongs of the straight well in front and looking unassailable.

Curlin’s Affair, who was burning at exercise before this race started to shorten in the final half a furlong which allowed the 48-1 chance T Brady to swoop down for second. Sir John finished third.

Of special note is the fact that this was the first runner conditioned by Nunes for the champion owner Michros.

Curlin’s Affair was Nunes’ second winner on the day.
