A riding triple for jockey Dane Nelson
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After three failures in 2022, Crimson got it right, when under the guidance of jockey Dane Nelson, the bay gelding gained success in the feature event on the Sunday (Mar 27) programme , the Lindy Delapenha Memorial Trophy.
This trophy race was competed over a mile in the Overnight Allowance grade by three-year-old and upwards horses.
Nelson kept Crimson way off the pace set by stablemate Atlantic Blue (Kiaman McGregor) and Supreme Soul (Tevin Foster), the latter racing again for trainer Anthony Nunes.
Supreme Soul showing some of the dash of yester-years surged to the lead with three furlongs to go while Nelson was working feverishly on Crimson to get into contention.
It was Supreme Soul who turned for home with the lead but by now Crimson started to motor and quickly went by Supreme Soul to score by 3 ¼ lengths with Sentient (Dane Dawkins) finishing third.
The winning time done by Crimson was 1:39.0 with fractions of 24.2 x 47.2 x 1:12.4.
Crimson closed a triple on the day for Nelson.
