KINGSTON, Jamaica - In the aftermath of Commander Z's notable first-time victory on Sunday, April 14, 2024, trainer Spencer Chung communicated to this website his intention to judiciously select future races for the promising newcomer.

"Commander Z's initiation into the competitive sphere of racing was commendable," Chung remarked. "I was satisfied with his performance; he accomplished his task smoothly and without complication."

Chung also noted Commander Z's pedigree, stating, "He is sired by Khozan, a distinguished stallion based in Florida. It's worth noting that Khozan's offspring, Eroy, previously competed in Jamaica, securing numerous victories."

Despite Commander Z's smaller stature, Chung sees potential in the colt and plans to proceed with caution. "He emerged from his initial race in good condition, which bodes well for the future," Chung disclosed in a conversation with Quickgallopja.com.

Competing against a field primarily comprised of first-time foreign racers on the five-furlong straight course, Commander Z, with jockey Tevin Foster, executed a solid start.

Demonstrating increasing momentum, the colt ultimately distanced himself from his adversaries, clinching the win by 3 ½ lengths with a finishing time of 59.2 seconds.
