KINGSTON, Jamaica - Race eight on Saturday is maiden three-year-old call for locally bred and foreigners going five furlongs straight.
Of the seven horses entered, only one Money Mission is representing the locally bred stock.
The Quick Whisperer’s assessment of the possible outcome of this contest is provided below.
1 - BOWMORE is a bay colt (USA April 10) by Complexity out of Colonel Dettwiller, trained by Phillip Lee with Oshane Nugent in the saddle. Bowmore will be running with first-time Lasix. He had a competitive outing on December 24, 2024, but did not make a significant impression. It’s evident that Bowmore needs to improve for this performance.
2 - FLAG OF VICTORY is a chestnut filly (CAN March 22) by Point of Entry out of Run The Flag, trained by Winchester McIntosh with Paul Francis riding. Flag of Victory will race with the figure eight off. She has had five attempts so far and has not shown any promise of being a serious contender for victory.
3 - MISS CONTENT is a roan filly (CAN March 2) by Big Screen out of Algoma, trained by Phillip Lee with Larris Allen aboard. Miss Content will be racing with blinkers and first-time Lasix. After her initial race on the track, she has a considerable amount of development ahead of her.
4 - NEPHEW is a bay colt (USA March 7) by Uncle Vinny out of Boca Bloom, trained by Owen Sharpe with Trevor Simpson as the jockey. Nephew will race with blinkers. He enters this contest following underwhelming performances in his two previous starts. However, facing a moderate field, Nephew is expected to be competitive, possibly even reaching the exacta.
5 - MONEY MISSION is a bay filly (January 22) by Casual Trick out of Daisy Duke, trained by Oral Hayden with Youville Pinnock riding. As the only locally bred horse in this seven-horse field, Money Mission has only one race experience and may struggle to effectively compete against these six rivals.
6 - UNRULY MO is a bay colt (USA March 23) by Outwork out of Snakeinthegrass, trained by Oral Hayden with Shane Ellis as the jockey. Unruly Mo has shown consistent improvement, evidenced by a third-place finish behind Unspun and Rideallday on December 28, 2024. He has displayed early speed in previous races, which should help him contend well in this race.
7 - FEARLESS MISSION is a chestnut filly (USA April 10) by MacLean’s Music out of Duff One, trained by Oral Hayden with Matthew Bennett riding. Fearless Mission will race with the visor removed. As an import, she is gradually adjusting to local racing, having placed on the board in her three prior starts. This race appears to be a clash between Fearless Mission and her stablemate, Unruly Mo, with Unruly Mo holding a slight advantage.
