KINGSTON, Jamaica – THE QUICK GALLOPER returns to October 2021, when the Cash Pot ‘Only One For Me’ Trophy was run over six furlongs by the two-year-olds.
THE QUICK GALLOPER assesses the horses in the 2021 Cash Pot, to find find out where are they now. This assessment is done in the order of finish.
FIRST: SLAMMER – This Richard Azan trainee burst on the scene will a telling run-on victory effort. Since then, Slammer has had to deal with injuries, leading to the curtailment of his involvement in the three-year-old Classic races. After a long absence, Slammer returned to active competition two weeks ago, with a winning effort, which underlined his class and potential. Slammer is an above-average three-year-old, who if he stays fit, will go through his conditions without any fuss.
SECOND: PERFECT BREW – Left the Cash Pot and his two-year-old career with high expectations for the three-year-old Classics. Perfect Brew took his own sweet time to progress, with the Classic races passing him by without much ado. It was not until the last month and a half that Perfect Brew revived his flagging career with two consecutive victories. Perfect Brew stocks have risen since, with continued progress in the offing.
THIRD: SILENT MISSION – This filly has had a rough three-year-old campaign and was not in sight even in the Classic races reserved for the ‘ladies’. Did, repay her connections with two consecutive wins in the last two months. Silent Mission will probably reach Overnight Allowance but that is about it.
FOURTH: PRNCSSHOOTINGSTAR – Entered competitive racing with a win in the first two-year-old race of 2021. Since then Prncsshootingstar has not been able to demonstrate any progress.
FIFTH: TEKAPUNT – Went on to win the 6-furlong Sir Howard Stakes, then was stifled by injuries, ruling him out of Classic contention. Returned two weeks ago and has since put in two reasonable performances. Will go through his conditions, no more is expected.
SIXTH: GOLDEN WATTLE – Left the Cash Pot to become the dominant two-year-old of 2021, with major success in the one-mile Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. Voted as the champion two-year-old, Golden Wattle’s three-year-old season has been dogged by injuries. It was not only until two weeks ago that she earned her first victory at three. Confirmation has come from her trainer that Golden Wattle is being prepared for breeding duties.
SEVENTH: FLY MESSENGER FLY – The claim to fame of Fly Messenger Fly is that she has run the most races (25) among the three-year-olds.
