Woodbine cancelled the remainder of Sunday's live racing card following the completion of the first race due to inclement weather conditions affecting the Toronto area.
The decision to cancel races 2 through 11 on the afternoon program was made in the best interest of all participants, including jockeys, horses, trainers and horsemen, according to the track. Woodbine Entertainment consulted with the Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association before making the final decision to call off the remainder of the Sunday card.
The first race, a maiden optional claiming event at 6 1/2 furlongs for 2-year-olds, was won by Thundermaker. Trained by Kevin Attard and ridden by Pietro Moran, the 2-year-old colt prevailed by three lengths over Eubank.
National Weather Service forecast for Rexdale, Ontario, on Sunday called for snow with a high temperature of 33 degrees and winds at 17mph gusting to 26mph.
Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday at 5:30 p.m. EST.
