KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainee apprentice Calvin Bailey won the second special race for his cohort this year aboard the Wayne Parchment trained April Spirit.
The race was a Maiden Condition for four-year-olds and upwards run over 7 ½ furlongs.
Bailey from the off got April Spirit to the lead and maintained that position easily to the winning post to win by 2 ¼ lengths. Second was The King’s Treasure with Whatever third.
All the trainee apprentices in the race did not have the use of the whip.
