KINGSTON, Jamaica – The eighth race on Sunday, January 15, 2023, is a four-year-old non-winners of four for locally bred horses, and a non-three for four-year-olds and upwards foreigners.

In this five-and-a-half furlong event, seven horses are entered in the Derrick Collins Trophy.

The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below in draw order.

1 – LUKSOL finally delivered win number two (six furlongs) on December 22, 2022, three lengths ahead of Talona and Slammer. In her 19 races to date, Luksol has been consistent throughout, always hitting the board. She was thumped by Champion Bubbler on December 10, with both meeting on the same terms, thereby giving Champion Bubbler the handicapping edge.

2 – TALONA was beaten by Luksol on last, and with the scales about equal in this encounter, Luksol is expected to be in front again.

3 – YELLOWSTONE returns after a long break of 77 days. When last at the races (Oct 30), Yellowstone beat Luksol by a short head at the same distance of Sunday’s contest. Yellowstone needs time to get back to his old self.

4 – THE GIFTED ONE is not ready to deal with these.

5 – THALOS was ruled when declared to run on December 24. This gelding needs re-acclimatization time before winning can be considered.

6 – CHAMPION BUBBLER enters this race with a record of two wins from two starts. On Sunday, Champion Bubbler races against past rivals at the same rivals with much change in the handicaps. She is the firm choice for a third victory.

7 - KP CHOICE has not received his rightful due even after some noticeable runs. Will play a part in this one without winning.
