Benson, the four-year-old bay colt conditioned by Fitznahum Williams, emerged victorious in the Jamaica Racing Commission Veterinarians’ Trophy on April 27, 2024.

The event, which was a maiden condition for native-bred four-year-olds and upward over 6 ½ furlongs, witnessed Benson pulling ahead of the pack and winning by a whopping 15 ½ lengths.

The final timing of the race was recorded at 1:23.0 (24.1 x 49.1 x 1:15.1). Benson, ridden by the top jockey Tevin Foster, made a bold front-running effort, leading the nine-horse field right from the start.

Glittering Magnum, Sir Wong Don, and Veliki Vicki tried to keep up with Benson, but the colt's impressive gallop proved too much to handle.

As the field approached the half-mile turn, Sir Wong Don tried to challenge Benson, but the colt maintained his pace and pushed forward.

When the horses turned for home, Benson kicked into high gear, leaving his rivals in the dust and crossing the finish line with ease. Sir Wong Don came in second, while Dimetry P finished third.

Benson's exceptional breeding pedigree was also noteworthy, being sired by Here Comes Ben out of the Tracking mare First Kiss. The crowd was thrilled to witness such an incredible performance by the young colt, who has surely made a name for himself in the world of horse racing.
