KINGSTON, Jamaica – A win is always a win! And for new apprentice Marshall Porter that win came via the stewards’ room on Mount Zion King as first by the post in the second Saturday event, Struck By Grace ridden by leading rider Christopher Mamdeen was disqualified and placed second for causing interference and intimidation.

The race, a Restricted Allowance V for five-year-olds and upwards – non winners of two run over four furlongs straight - was then awarded to Mount Zion King trained by Michael Thomas.

It was obvious from race replays that Mamdeen swerved from the number two draw to the middle of the race track and did cause interference to Porter and Mount Zion King. Mount Zion King won at even money.

So with this win, Porter becomes the first of the 19 new apprentices to claim a victory.

Quickgallop.com congratulates the young man.
